Compassion is a desire to alleviate or reduce the suffering of another. It is a powerful emotion, a wanting to show special kindness to those who might be suffering. Compassion usually comes with empathy, wherein a person acting with compassion will seek to help those they feel compassionate for.
Think of someone in your life right now who may need help. Allow yourself to walk in their shoes and begin to feel empathy for them.
What do you have in common with this person? We need air to breathe, water, shelter and love. We want happiness. Think about how we are all the same in those ways. When you think of others, say to yourself, "Just like me, this person is (fill in the blank). Make this a part of your everyday life.
Open your heart to someone who is hurting or suffering and think about how you would like their hurting or suffering to end. There is a lot of reflection involved in compassion.
It's also important to show yourself compassion. Take care of yourself - make yourself a priority. It is not selfish, it is necessary. It's important to work on yourself and to become the best version of you!
