When we begin something new, whatever it may be, often times something needs to end first. We usually don't think of it this way. Saying an affirmation like, "I welcome new beginnings, even if something has to end", is like writing yourself a permission slip to allow something new into your life.
Sometimes things just run their course - endings to careers, love relationships, friendships, etc. You could also end bad habits, like eating poorly or smoking. Or you could invite in a new journaling practice or reading to end a habit of sitting on the couch watching TV.
An ending doesn't mean that something has to come to a halt; there can be a soft ending, a tapering or a distance. When we can allow ourselves to welcome new things into our lives, we keep the door of possibility always open. Every day is new and exciting and full of wonder.
I welcome new beginnings, even if something has to end.
